Anaemia is the condition when there is a decrease in number of red blood cells (RBCs) or less than the normal quantity of haemoglobin in the blood. It can affect adults and children of both the sexes although, but pregnant and adolescent girls are more commonly affected. Normal levels of haemoglobin in females is 12.1 to 15.1 gm% and in males is13.8 to 17.2 gm%.
