Spiratox Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat a parasitic infection known as Toxoplasmosis in pregnant women. It helps to lower the risk of transmission of toxoplasma infection from the mother to the unborn child. Rarely, it may also be used to treat some other infections. Spiratox Tablet should be taken orally on an empty stomach. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening. Commonly seen side effects seen with this medicine include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. These are usually temporary and subside with the completion of treatment. Consult your doctor if these side effects do not resolve or persist for a longer duration. Regular monitoring of liver function tests (LFT’s) may be required while using this medicine. This medicine is safe to use during pregnancy. However, it will not affect the severity of the disease if the unborn child has already been infected. Inform your doctor if you have any previous history of allergy before taking this medicine.

If you miss a dose of Spiratox Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  Ans: Yes, the use of Spiratox Tablet can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.
• Q. Q. How long does Spiratox Tablet takes to work??
  Ans: Usually, Spiratox Tablet starts working soon after taking it. However, it may take some days to kill all the harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
• Q. Q. What if I don't get better after using Spiratox Tablet??
  Ans: Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
• Q. Q. Can I stop taking Spiratox Tablet when my symptoms are relieved??
  Ans: No, do not stop taking Spiratox Tablet and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
• Q. Q. Can the use of Spiratox Tablet cause infertility??
  Ans: There is no firm evidence to suggest that the use of Spiratox Tablet will cause infertility in males or females.
