Novex DS Tablet is a medicine used as an oral contraceptive pill. It helps to prevent pregnancy as it does not allow implantation of the fertilized ovum to the womb (uterus). In higher doses, Novex DS Tablet is also used to control abnormal vaginal bleeding in women who have not attained menopause (end of the monthly menstrual period). This medicine is only taken once a week, either with or without food. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor is the right person to decide the exact dose, hence follow your doctor's advice. It is a non-hormonal medicine with very minimal side effects but in some cases, it may cause irregularity in your menstrual cycle. If this bothers you or appears serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing this. Before taking this medicine let your doctor know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

  Ans: Novex DS Tablet contains a non-hormonal medicine, i.e. Centchroman/Ormeloxifene. It is used as an oral contraceptive medicine. It may also be used in the treatment of uterine bleeding.
• Q. Q. How and in what dose should I take Novex DS Tablet??
  Ans: You should take Novex DS Tablet, as advised by your doctor. However, for contraception, you are required to take two tablets a week for the first 12 weeks ( for e.g. on Sunday and Wednesday), and then one tablet a week. It is also advisable to use condom, in addition to taking Novex DS Tablet, for the period of the first 8 weeks of use.

  Ans: Yes, Novex DS Tablet is safe for breastfeeding mothers as it is a non-hormonal and non-steroidal medicine.
• Q. Q. If I become pregnant while on Novex DS Tablet, will my fetus be harmed??
  Ans: Such a situation is called method failure where contraception fails to prevent pregnancy. In case you conceive even after taking Novex DS Tablet, there is nothing to worry about. This medicine does not cause abnormalities in the fetus and the baby has normal growth and development. However, stop taking this medicine as soon as you get to know about your pregnancy.

  Ans: No, Novex DS Tablet does not cause vaginal discharge, spotting, breakthrough bleeding or menorrhagia.
• Q. Q. What if I miss my pill??
  Ans: Take the missed pill as soon as you remember. If the pill is missed by 1 or more days but less than 7 days, follow the regular schedule and use an alternate method (e.g. condoms) till the next period. If the pill is missed by more than 7 days, restart the schedule like a new user.
• Q. Q. What are the common side effects of taking Novex DS Tablet??
  Ans: As per the clinical studies conducted so far in women of reproductive age groups, Novex DS Tablet (Centchroman or Ormeloxifene) has been found to be safe and free from the common side effects of hormonal birth control pills.
