In Prevention of Meningococcal disease Meningitis Act Injection is a vaccine that helps protect against meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135 in children (from 2 years of age), adolescents and adults. It is given by a doctor or a nurse and should not be self-administered. Consult your doctor if you have any doubts. Keeping up to date with recommended vaccines is the best defense against meningococcal disease. Maintaining healthy habits, like getting plenty of rest and not having close contact with people who are sick, is also helpful in preventing it.
