Product Informations: Maxcef CV Dry Syrup

In Treatment of Bacterial infections Maxcef CV Dry Syrup contains two different medicines, Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid, that work together to kill the bacteria that cause infections. This combination medicine can be used to treat many different bacterial infections such as ear, sinus, throat, lung, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

  • Q. Q. My child is underweight and is not growing as per his age. Is it safe to give Maxcef CV Dry Syrup??
Ans: Use Maxcef CV Dry Syrup with caution as it may be associated with blood clotting problems especially in children who are underweight and not growing adequately. This risk is further increased if the child has underlying liver and kidney disease. Consult your child’s doctor in such cases.
  • Q. Q. My child is suffering from a seizure disorder. Can I give Maxcef CV Dry Syrup to my child??
Ans: Maxcef CV Dry Syrup may cause seizure activity, particularly in children who have kidney disease. So, Maxcef CV Dry Syrup should be used with caution in children with a history of seizure disorder. If seizures occur, discontinue Maxcef CV Dry Syrup and visit your child’s doctor right away.
  • Q. Q. What if I give too much of Maxcef CV Dry Syrup by mistake??
Ans: An extra dose of Maxcef CV Dry Syrup is unlikely to harm. However, if you think you have given too much of Maxcef CV Dry Syrup to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child’s condition.
  • Q. Q. For how long do I need to give Maxcef CV Dry Syrup to my child??
Ans: Give Maxcef CV Dry Syrup for as long as advised by the doctor. Usually, it takes 3 to 5 days for the infection to start improving. However, you must still finish the full course of the medicine and never stop it abruptly by yourself as that may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

  • Q. Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Maxcef CV Dry Syrup ??
Ans: Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
  • Q. Q. Does a common cold caused by viruses always result in a secondary bacterial infection? When to start an antibiotic to prevent infection??
Ans: In most cases, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics to treat viral infections may instead lead to side effects without benefiting your child's health. Hence, you must give antibiotics to your child only after consulting with your child’s doctor.
  • Q. Q. Can Maxcef CV Dry Syrup impact my child’s digestion??
Ans: Antibiotics kill the infection-causing bacteria, but while doing this they may affect the good bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, your child may develop diarrhea or some other infections as well. Moreover, children have a more sensitive stomach than adults, so the likelihood of developing a stomach upset is more. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Maxcef CV Dry Syrup, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
