In Treatment of Bacterial infections Kefgen Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections like airways and lung infections (such as pneumonia), ear, nose, and throat infections, tonsillitis, and urinary tract infections. It inhibits the growth of infection-causing bacteria by stopping it from multiplying. This medicine starts showing benefits within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. However, you must finish the full course of the medicine and never stop it abruptly by yourself as that may worsen your child’s condition or cause infection recurrence.

  • Q. Q. Is it harmful if I give a double dose of Kefgen Oral Suspension to my child??
Ans: It is always prudent to stay alert while giving medicines to your child because overdoses increase the risk of worsening the condition or causing unwanted side effects. Though an extra dose of Kefgen Oral Suspension is unlikely to do harm, you should speak to a doctor to make sure that your child remains unharmed.
  • Q. Q. Can Kefgen Oral Suspension cause serious side effects??
Ans: Not usually, but rarely it may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
  • Q. Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Kefgen Oral Suspension??
Ans: Kefgen Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Kefgen Oral Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
  • Q. Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Kefgen Oral Suspension??
Ans: Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
  • Q. Q. Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Kefgen Oral Suspension on a long-term basis??
Ans: The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your child’s condition.
  • Q. Q. Can Kefgen Oral Suspension impact my child’s digestive system??
Ans: Yes, antibiotics are often accused of causing an upset stomach because while killing the bad bacteria they may unknowingly kill the good bacteria too. As a result, the working of the digestive system may get disrupted. This risk of developing stomach infections is higher in children because they often have a sensitive stomach. You can reduce this risk significantly by giving this medicine to your child with meals. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Kefgen Oral Suspension, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
