In Polycythemia vera Polycythemia vera is a type of blood cancer that causes excessive production of red blood cells. This may lead to blood clot formation and lead to other serious health issues. Jakavi 20mg Tablet kills or stops the growth of cancer cells and also prevents the multiplication of cancer cells. It is an effective, yet very toxic medicine and you should discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking while having this treatment and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. In Chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis Chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis is a long-term problem that causes fibrous, or scar, tissue to form in the bone marrow. The scarring means the bone marrow can't work normally and produces fewer red blood cells and usually too many white blood cells. Jakavi 20mg Tablet kills or stops the growth of cancer cells and also prevents the multiplication of cancer cells. You may experience some bothersome side effects. Discuss with your doctor if you have any doubts.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Jakavi 20mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Jakavi 20mg Tablet is used in the treatment of chronic idiopathic myelofibrosis and Polycythemia vera. Jakavi 20mg Tablet can be taken with or without food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefits. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to. Headache, dizziness, low platelet count are some common side effects of this medicine. This medicine may reduce the number of blood cells (decrease red blood) in your blood, thereby, increasing the susceptibility to infections. Regular blood tests are required to check your blood cells along with heart, liver, kidney and lipid levels. Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have liver, or kidney problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your healthcare team know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

Alcohol : SAFE

Consuming alcohol with Jakavi 20mg Tablet does not cause any harmful side effects.

Pregnancy : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Jakavi 20mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding : CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Jakavi 20mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving : UNSAFE

Jakavi 20mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney : CAUTION

Jakavi 20mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Jakavi 20mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Jakavi 20mg Tablet is not advised in patients with moderate to severe kidney disease.

Liver : CAUTION

Jakavi 20mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Jakavi 20mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
